The Human Relations Laboratory is an annual, week-long intergenerational learning event sponsored by the American Association for the Furtherance of Community and the Goodenough Community (www.goodenough.org/LabInfo.htm).
This year's theme is “Experiencing Compassionate Community”. Global warming is leading to very large changes, largely unclear to the general population, in the coming years. With the theme of compassion, which requires feeling and understanding, we see that a compassionate community would provide a way to learn about and understand the current assessment of possible consequences of global warming and also provide a way to work through the many human responses to such information.
In its 39th year, the Lab has historically focused on helping people learn about how they relate to others and the world and on learning and practicing new, more effective attitudes and behavior.
