Equations of state, compressibility, Boussinesq approximation.
Geostrophic balance, Rossby number.
Poincare, Kelvin, Rossby waves, geostrophic adjustment.
Ekman layers.
Continuously stratified dynamics: Inertia-gravity waves, potential vorticity, quasigeostrophy.
